Food Rules

Straight to the point and delightfully punchy, I’ve so enjoyed Michael Pollan’s book “Food Rules”. Here are three of my three favorite rules so far. Avoid food products containing ingredients that a third-grader cannot pronounce. Eat only foods that will eventually rot. Eat animals that have themselves eaten well.

Transported In Time

Sheep with tails 10 lbs heavy and salt water distilled with ease. Encountering different people with familiar desires and needs. There’s so much to be learned in ones account of life in the 1750s.

Lithography

Etching information (a picture, story, or map) into a stone or metal. A rudimentary printing press. What used to take days now takes minutes.

Entropy

Surrounded by entropy, one would think. Constantly changing the ground beneath one’s feet. Yet that picture is incomplete. There is order, unseen.

Abroad

It’s the little things when traveling, like: That make a world of difference.
