I’ve gone through some dramatic changes this year.
One significant change is that I have a part-time job, this is in addition to having more demands on my time than ever. This job has changed the way I function and taught me some important lessons.
Having a job has built my confidence. The current job I have is also my first. And before getting a job I had some uncertain in my abilities. Would I be good at my job? What if I didn’t like my job? How well can I handle the pressure? Will my managers like me?
Now after almost 9 months of working at this job I realize how much power you have in choice. I choose to work hard, and I became good at my job. I do plenty of things I don’t necessarily like but I have a good attitude while doing them. I take preemptive measures to prepare for the rush so that I don’t become stressed.
Now I know that no matter where I work, I have the power to make it a great experience.
Having a job has forced me to value my time. When you know you’ll be gone from 9am-6pm it forces you to prioritize. Having this additional demand on my time has forced me to be more productive in a lot of ways. I am pressed to get things done that I would have otherwise put off.
Having a job has helped me be financially literate. I’ve always had the perspective that having more money wasn’t the answer to bad spending habits. If you mismanage the money you have odds are if you get more money you’ll mismanage it too.
I have learned to budget, set limits on my spending and save.
Having a job has taught me that I love to work.
