how to get credit for the hard work you do

We all love receiving recognition. Especially when it’s rewarding our hard work.

But when our primary focus is to receive credit, we focus on ‘me’. This is counterproductive for multiple reasons.

Focus on the ‘we’ not ‘me’ concept. You will have a better chance of receiving credit for your work if you separate your ego from the project and praise those who helped you achieve it. If you look beyond yourself it won’t take long to find people who helped along the way.

To happily recognize the works of others is the best way to get recognized for your own work.

Alternatively, if you continuously focus solely on getting the credit you deserve, it can breed an organizational cancer of sorts. No one wants to work with someone who is constantly focused on getting praise. And realistically how often do you accomplish something 100% by yourself.

Credit is not a fixed resource. There are no limits on how many individuals can be recognized for contributing to an outcome.

To be recognized you must first be willing to recognize others. When you do this there will be a line out the door of people who want to work with you.
