In reality, areas where you have control, are few and far between in the grand scheme of things. There are far more things that you can not control than you might like.
You can’t control the temperature outside, you can’t control whether the moon was to drop out of our solar system, you can’t control what others think of you.
But you can control and govern yourself and your choices.
So I pose this question. In this moment are you choosing comparison or gratitude?
You may think this is not a choice but two unavoidable certainties.
Although I don’t deny that comparison and gratitude are both emotions you will encounter I do deny that these emotions are not a choice.
So how do you choose to stop comparing?
Start being grateful.
STOP: We can often get caught up in the pace of life going a million miles an hour. In those moments we often think and use the phrase “I don’t have time”. Well, spoiler, your time is yours, how you want to spend it is up to you. When you say “I don’t have time” you are really saying “I don’t care enough about this to make time for it”.
Gratitude is something worth making time for.
And often the best way to make time for gratitude is to stop. We can be grateful for every given moment.
LOOK: This step can only be fully experienced after following step one, stop. Observe the simple and amazing things that are occurring around you. When you choose to look at the incredible life about you gratitude finds it’s way in.
When you are gratefulness you are not fearful.
When you are grateful you act out of a feeling of enough not feeling of scarcity
When you are grateful you can enjoy the differences of every body
GO: After stopping and looking at the amazing things around you gratitude will begin to fill your life. However, the most impactful way to spread gratitude, go and do. I love this Tedx talk about 365 days of gratitude.
There are little acts you can do each day that demonstrate a small token of your gratitude, and that is a choice only you can make.
