Your school shouldn’t define you, but it does.

There are numerous metrics of evaluation.

In fact, we are constantly evaluating.

A recent study by Associate for Psychology Science found that we can create a strong opinion of someone in a very short amount of time.

This quick and often incorect evaluation is prevenelt in the area of hiring. Students are quickly evaluated by a quick glance at their resume.

However, I pose the question, “how accurate is your evaluation of someone in a mere 10-second glance?”.

It is not only incomplete but most likely incorrect.

When we evaluate students, who often don’t have a lot of experience, and rely on their resume and school prestige to determine their aptitude we fall into a lose-lose.

Students are motivated to get good grades, which doesn’t make often does not correlate to them being a more valuable employee, and employers hire based upon irrelevant metrics.

The solution to this problem is to evaluate students on metrics that do matter. And that is the quality of their work.
