finding good talent is hard, when you’re looking in the wrong places

In the current cycle from student to investment banker includes a whole host of problems. The two primary problems being, poor evaluation metrics like resumes, which simply do NOT provide a good evaluation of student talent, and banks falsely identifying talent based on these inaccurate factors.

Resumes. Often resume do not clearly communicate whether you can do a job well. The new rush toward pitch decks and other mediums support the dying nature of resumes. A resume does not communicate whether you have a passion for the company. A resume does not communicate your interest in the job. Both are important traits that you can’t teach someone but that they must choose on their own.

Although GPA and school are not irrelevant factors, neither indicate if you’ll be a good investment banker or not.

Banks. The solution to this problem is to evaluate students on metrics that do matter. In this case, students can showcase their skills through simulations. This provides a win-win. Employers get a more accurate evaluation and candidates are showcased according to their ability, which they can work to develop.

With simulations no matter your schooling you can get evaluated based on your skill.

Individual skill is being showcased through simulations more accurately now than ever. Simulations are making increasing strides in the investment banking industry.

Solution. Financial markets simulation allows students to manage a portfolio.

Although the “money” is simulated it functions similarly to how real money would. If there is a crash in the real world market the simulation will reflect that, in real time.

Using AI and IO technology the simulation evaluates students based on:

  • Learning ⇒ How sophisticated they become over time.
  • Risk management ⇒ How they actively manage risk over time
  • Research ⇒ How their research and rationale develops over time
  • Engagement ⇒ How engaged and passionate they are over time

This is a great feature because it extends beyond only evaluating portfolio return. Often students can make profitable trades without having a good understanding of investing.

These indicators accomplish the task of showcasing the skill and thought process of the student.
