A phrase you’ll commonly hear is “I don’t have time.”
Whenever I hear this phrase or say it, I’m not blameless, I think of two things.
One, you likely do have time. If I had to guess a percentage for the number of times people say “I don’t have time” and they actually truly do not have time, I’d bet it’s less than 10%.
“I don’t have time” is simply the scapegoat for your lack of honesty.
Two, instead of actually not having the time they actually mean, they won’t make time.
This is a critical distinction.
Being honest with yourself that you likely have time but it’s not a priority is a better alternative.
Or versly you may actually not have time and then you should simply be honest and say you won’t be attending or participating in whatever capacity.
As Yoda said “You either do or you don’t. There is no try.”
