Everything in moderation.
If you enjoy setting big goals, there’s a good chance you’ve got a fair amount of ambition.
Could it be possible that you have too much?
Ambition, a powerful force, can drive you to be unfocused and negatively effects your ability to showcase your positive abilities
Here’s a word of caution, distraction is the enemy of focus, and focus is often the key to success.
It’s far better to be in the top 5% at a single task than in the bottom 30% at a handful of tasks.
Whatever role you currently have, a manager, cashier, accountant, lawyer, there are priorities and primary expectations within that role.
Expectations can be unclear, it is your responsibility to be absolutely crystal clear on the expectations. Next, focus primarily on being excellent at those objectives.
Exploring side projects, and thinking of other ways to add value are not to be abandoned, however, do not let any diverted focus decrease the quality or vigor with which you are focused on your objectives.
You are not being evaluated on the quality of your side projects.
If you let ambition run loose and divert your focus to your side projects to overwhelm the primary goal, you immediately are not adding value but adding concern to your role.
If you are lacking in the execution of an expectation and begin to prioritize other projects, the companies needs are left by the wayside and you aren’t adding value where you should.
