321 days.
I’ve blogged consecutively for 321 days.
In preparation for hitting 365 days, one year, I’ve been thinking of something fun to do to celebrate.
One thing that I’ve enjoyed is handing out flowers to strangers. Dreaming big, a fun idea for me would be to get flowers shops to sponsor random acts of kindness in the community and give me 365 flowers.
In my eyes, this is a pretty big ask but a fun challenge none the less. So here’s a quick script I wrote up tonight:
Me: Hi, my name is Elizabeth – I’m calling to speak to the manager, are they available?
Flower Shop: Sure, let me go get them.
Manger: Hi, {FirstName} manager at flower shop speaking.
Me: Hi {FirstName}, how are you?
Manager: Good, what can I help you with?
Me: Well, my name is Elizabeth – and the reason I’m calling is that I’ve written and published an article daily, and today marks my 320 consecutive days. As I’m nearing 365 days I wanted to celebrate by giving back to the community.
As I’m sure you experience daily, flowers bring people joy like nothing else. I was just wonder would you be able to provide some flowers for me to hand out to strangers?
It’s now 8:02 and I called three flower shops. One didn’t answer, another said the manager wasn’t around, and the last one said they were the manager but upon hearing my pitch told me I’d need to speak to the actual manager who wasn’t around.
I’m interested to see what kind of traction I can build with this pitch.
My roommate, the amazing supporter that she is, insist we go to a flowers shop tomorrow to pitch in person.
Will keep you updated.
