My best days are my most grateful days.
This is something that comes especially easily when you are mindful of how short life is.
The small window of time that is your life is very well portrayed in the article “The Tail End” by Tim Urban on the Wait But Why blog.
One of the statistics that was most impactful to me was: “By the time most of us graduated from high school, we’ve already used up 93% of your in-person parent time. We’re in the tail end.”
With this information in mind, I’ve been challenging myself to call my family twice a week.
Routinely checking in and getting updates, showing you care and aiding advice where you can is all very important. Calling home is a little act that can have a big impact. Your time is limited – where you spend your time should be an active decision not decided by circumstance.
Make an effort, call home.
