In any given conversation, it’s a fun undertaking to try and identify where this person has a deeper mastery in a subject and could teach you something.
After all, learning new things is something we’re constantly doing, and it’s worthwhile to use the conversations around you to discover new things.
Now, because I would venture that there’ a lot you could learn from any given person, the real key is to efficiently learn where this person has mastery in an area you’re interested in and find what perspectives, resources, advice would be most valuable.
Like the internet, if you ask any person a question you’ll get a variety of pieces of information. This information is a) not always what you’re looking for b) not going to aid you in any way.
The fact of the matter is that, there is a lot of information that is simply not worth knowing.
But being highly subjective, it is up to you to determine what those things are.
And that’s bound to change on your season of life, interests, etc.
Just like when searching Google, choose your words and questions wisely to learn the most valuable, helpful and fun things from people.
*Disclaimer: this is not to be confused with encouraging rampant annoying question asking where instead of typing into Google how many teaspoons are in a tablespoons you ask me.
