It is a good thing to hype others up.
I like to think of hype as: encouragement vocalized.
From my experience, “hype” is most effective when it’s a) unprecedented and b) genuine.
People can tell, including yourself, when it’s not genuine.
By hyping others up you can increase their excitement, develop a bond, and learn something new.
It’s likely the person receiving the praise won’t return the same level of interest for you, the majority of the time. But it’s good to acknowledge that’s not the point of hyping others up. And, if you have the expectation of others returning your enthusiasm after hyping them up, I predict, you might be disappointed.
In my view, the point, and hope, is that you can support others through encouragement. It’s also a great way to discover what this person is passionate about, what their dreams are and how you might add value.
By hyping up others you add value to their life. Resulting in you being remembered as someone whom others appreciate through showing others appreciation.
