Self-interest is a funny thing.
It drives many of our actions, however, it doesn’t always drive our most proactive actions.
Positive changes and proactive actions are often accompanied by great self-sacrifice and discomfort.
If you’re considering a course of action but decide against it because of fear of vulnerability, how others are going to see you, and instead choose comfort you can remain hidden under the cloak of self-interest.
As hard as it may be, I challenge you in those moments of facing your fear of vulnerability to choose something of comfort, I urge you to choose something different.
- Pause: Take a breath and acknowledge the reality of your circumstance. There are two sides at war, a comfort-seeking side, and a growth side
- Consciously Consider: Evaluate the freedom you will feel from facing your fear and the suffocating feel when you give into fear.
- Choose: Do to not let your fear of vulnerability hold you back from growing.
Discomfort is the companion of growth.
