There’s a difference between leading people and managing people.

When we manage people we’re telling them what to do. When we lead people we ask them to follow a direction or path and cheer them, sometimes even ahead of us.

In order to be a good leader, you must care personally.

Caring personally is what builds trust, channels of clear and direct communication and is the lifeblood of a successful team. Caring personally means asking if your colleagues are taking care of themselves, what you can do to help, and what they did over the weekend.

To care personally is an absolute key of leadership.
