Leading VS Managing

What is the difference between leading and managing?

Good leadership includes qualities of management, like working with a team to set goals and following through on those goals.

However, people want to be lead they don’t want to be managed.

If it’s true that people would rather be lead than managed, what’s the difference?

Leadership is built on trust. Not that you trust they will do everything perfectly, but rather that they will make the right call when they mess up.

Managing and close following to the extent where you want to review their every action isn’t good. People don’t want to hear that they aren’t capable.

Leading and not managing builds a more effective team.
