I like to designate travel time as thinking time.
Usually this entails reading a book or engaging in a mental exercises. However, yesterday I switched it up a bit and watched “Dead Poets Society.”
This film follows a group of boys at a prestigious all boys school where they encounter a new poetry teacher Mr. Keating, played by Robin Williams.
Under the instruction of Mr. Keating they are encouraged to think for themselves through the following exercises.
- Ripping out the introduction of their textbooks.
- Standing on their desk to see from a different perspective.
- Walking at their own pace.
Ringing strongly to the power of individual thought the film highlights the timeless poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
So don’t conform to how I use my time at airports, but think for yourself and find a routine that benefits you.
