Here’s to empowering users to watching videos at their preferred speed, whether that be .05 or 8x.

Spotify

Below see the options to listen to podcasts at speeds from 0.5 – 3x. Spotify limits this feature to podcasts, but it has a wider range, going up to 3x, which is greater than most audio platforms.

Vimeo & YouTube

Step 1: Create a bookmark, any URL will do.

Step 2: In Bookmark manager, replace the URL with the below code: javascript: var v = document.querySelector(‘video’); var t = prompt(‘Set the playback rate’); v.playbackRate = parseFloat(t)

Step 3: Click on the bookmark when you’re on a webpage that you want to speed up the video on.

Now, when you use the bookmark you can specify any speed you’d like. This works on Vimeo and YouTube. No longer are you limited to not being able to change the video speed on Vimeo AT ALL (outrageous), but you can also break the limit of 2x on YouTube as well.
