200 Days

A lot happens in two hundred days.

But how often do we reflect on past highlights, and common mistakes?

The past holds valuable lessons that should impact the future, else we learn nothing.

Highlights from the past 200 days have been primarily moments of discomfort. I’m not surprised.

Backpacking through wild terrain.

Starting a dance party at a conference.

Introducing myself to strangers who quickly became friends.

Starting a new role that has increased responsibilities.

Creating a public speaking course.

Speaking at a company lunch and learn.

Expressing my thoughts on improving communication.

Being vulnerable and sharing my wounds.

Working out consistently.

Learning to put limits on what I commit to. (I now have one protected evening each week.)

Being challenged by those around me and saying yes to those challenges.

Common mistakes:

Not considering consequences and acting too quickly.

Failing to daily define success.

From this reflection two things stuck out to me. Firstly, I appreciate when people challenge me, this makes me want to challenge those around me more. Secondly, expressing my feelings has been some of the most uncomfortable but rewarding things I’ve done. I want to spend more time doing that.

“We’re capable of creating work that matters only if we’re willing to be uncomfortable while we do it.”
