1) The exclusivity of payments with WeChat.
If you want to buy something you can use cash or WeChat. No physical or other forms of digital cards are accepted. Something I knew before arriving but something that surprised me nonetheless.
2) Food delivery is free.
Businesses pay for a service so that food deliveries are free to the consumer.
3) The prevalence of fresh fruit markets.
I’ve heard previously from my Chinese friends that back home they would grocery shop daily. Which is a stark contrast to the weekly, or in my case bi-weekly, grocery shopping. A big reason for the increase in frequency is the prevalence of fresh fruit markets. There is almost always one within a 4 minute walk from your home. With that kind of convenience, why not?
