You know what I can’t stop thinking about?
Not the fact that the best egg tart I’ve had was at KFC.
Or that you can get heavenly boba for $2.57.
But the fact that every city in China has its own dialectic.
The closest thing to compare it to in the states is accents; but frankly that isn’t close at all.
Frequently I’ll be in different cities, with native Mandarin speakers, and they’ll understand only 60% or so of the towns’ dialect.
Thankfully the base language, Mandarin, is widely used.
Makes me think about how insane it would be to travel to India where they don’t have a common base language.
