First Impressions Of Cambodia

Of the countries on my list, this was the one I’ve been most apprehensive towards.

Although China is the only level three country I was planning to visit Cambodia, specifically Phnom Penh is the only level two city.

Additionally, I didn’t know anyone who’s been to Cambodia previously, so the unknown of the country was a bit intimidating.

Although Phnom Penh does have a high crime index compared to Hanoi where I’m traveling from, but it doesn’t feel a lot less safe at first impression.

From the first 6 hours in this country, it’s very charming.

Also way more developed than I expected.

We’re staying in the heart of the city, a few minutes walk from Wat Phnom Daun Penh and I’m seeing a lot of Vegas parallels.

A vibrant night life and tourist vibe.

Significantly fewer sky scrapers but still a lot more than I’d expected.

The streets are filled with your typical motorbike and car found in Asia with the fun addition of tuk tuks.

There’s a variety of street food, the jury is yet to be out on what’s good but we enjoyed some coconut ice cream, fish ball and fried tofu at the night market.

Excited to see how this country continues to surprise me.
