Street Food

Who knew that learning Vietnamese drinking chants would come in handy when buying street food!

One of the many saints of the sidewalk operating their heavenly food stations on my walk home from the gym have plastic tables and chairs scattered about for patrons.

Those chairs are occupied by a different crowd in the evenings when the family, friends, and spouses of the cooking angels gather round.

One stall I stopped by to get some dim sum looking dumplings from had a group of four men I can only guess were my dads age at a table.

They talked with the chef and invited me to sit with them.

Initially I declined, but moments later found myself sitting and enjoying my food with them, eating a bite of their off the menu dinner, exchanged names and occupations while we cheered on the chef.

A few moments in I was offered a beer and surprised them by initiating a cheers with my water bottle while recounting a drinking chant.
