I’ve spent 6 months abroad!
Visited a country and continent unexpectedly, love you Taiwan and Australia.
Experienced life as a farm hand and English teacher.
Become an airport lounge connoisseur.
Read more books on my phone than I have in my entire life.
Encountered dazzling fruit.
Became one with motorbikes.
Developed a deep appreciation for toilet paper.
Been continuously humbled by simple living, poverty, generosity, and kindness.
Embodied American stereotypes by being shocked when people knew very little about the U. S. when I knew even less about their country.
Seen devastation caused by government policies.
Had more “I have no idea what I’m eating but it’s good” moments.
Sung with more passion, and yes energy, then ever before.
Felt the excitement of the new and the comfort of the old.
Pushed on and grown my faith.
Dramatically improved my geography skills for Asia.
Gained tremendous confidence around traveling.
Found community with strangers.
Made life long friends.
Learned about myself, values, and preferences.
Felt the estrangement of language barriers and universal warmth of a smile.
And although technically I’m abroad right now, it feels like I’m home.
