Dubai Guide

The future awaits.

The young history of Dubai has forever left an impression on me. I’m more inspired, and optimistic about what’s possible after visiting.

Activities:

  • Dune Safari
    • I was really happy with this experience. It included transportation to and from the dunes, dune bashing (where the guide drives an SUV like a crazy person on the dunes), sand surfing, camel riding, and holding a falcon, their national bird.
  • Dubai Mall
    • I’m not big into shopping but this mall is a must visit to walk around to see the shops, interior design, and get lost in this mini city.
  • Burj Khalifa
    • Tallest building in the world as of the writing of this. Fun to look at and see the fountain show that’s below it.
  • Al Seef / Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood
    • A wonderful historical area, one of the few, in Dubai. Stop into their date, spice, and Turkish delight shops. Negotiate for everything.
  • Sunset Beach

Eats:

  • Fruit Zone
    • Chicken filo dough pastry, fried banana, sweet fried circle thing that was quite greasy.
  • Zaroob
    • Shawarma fries, Za’atar Man’oushe.
  • Papri Chaat
    • The best thing I had in Dubai. An incredible Indian street snack.
  • Laffah Restaurant
    • Incredible lentil soup, hummus, mixed meat platter.
  • Aaraamam Restaurant
    • Got their Indian fried bananas.
  • Parkers
    • Located in the Dubai mall. Tried the Matilda cake which was good but not worth the price for value imo.

Unfortunately, my visit to collided with a 75 year record for rainfall, resulting in closed public transportation and a brief flight detour to Oman.

I also had some serious debit card trouble. Only to find after 6 customer support chats and 2 phone calls later that after you enter your four digit pin you need to enter 00 after it. There was no indication that a 6 digit pin was needed so this was quite confusing.

Dubai has their own version of Grab, Careem, which was quite helpful. I stayed in the Al Rigga area and enjoyed that location.

I really feel like I just scratched the surface of Dubai. Very excited to visit again.

Future:

  • Ferrari World
  • Waterfront Souk (Market)
  • Dubai Gold Souk (Market)
  • The First Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan
  • Duabi Museum
  • Global Village
  • Duabi Marina Walk
  • Dubai Garden Glow
  • The World Islands
  • Al Rigga The Night Market
