It’s rained almost every day I’ve been in Cappadocia (Kapadokya if you’re a local).
And although I’m in the desert, the rain takes on a tropical attitude—aggressive bursts for 20 minutes, lulls, and then, depending on its appetite, another downpour.
Rain calls for a cup of hot chocolate.
Only, you’re in Cappadocia, so you’ve got a mug of Salep, a creamy, frothy, and light warm milk drink served with cinnamon on top.
Interestingly enough, the thickening agent is orchid root.
