My Legacy: The Book Nook

Anyone can create opportunity.

Often it can be as simple as asking a question that’s outside the box or being willing to challenge your comfort zone.

Here is a story about how I created opportunity.

I currently work at In-N-Out and love it.

I’ve been extremely blessed to have this be my first job experience. The way they treat and care for their associates as well as continually seek to provide the best quality and service has left a permanent impression on me. This company is truly incredible.

This April marks one year of working with this company, but all good things must come to an end.

This past Monday I put in my two weeks.

Needless to say, I will miss this company a lot.

But I began to think, I’m going to take a lot of ideas, principles, stories, and friendships away with me when I leave, what am I going to leave behind?

Here is what I came up with:

The note says:

THE BOOK NOOK

“The legacy you leave is created by what you do today.”

Hi, my name is Elizabeth Beeli, I was hired at this location in April, 2017 and this is the legacy I am leaving behind.

The book nook is a resource for those who want to improve themselves. I’ve found that one of the best and easily accessible tools for self-improvement is to read.

Here are some basic guidelines:

  • Read books while on breaks. Please don’t take them home, the likelihood of you returning them is slim.
  • Take resources e.g. hair bands, snacks, bobby pins, in moderation, this is an emergency fund not a replacement for your personal use.
  • Share what you’ve learned.
  • Add your favorite books to the collection.

In reality, the percentage of people who read any of these books will be few, but the path to success has never been crowded.

If you have a book you would like to read but don’t own, email me at beelielizabeth@gmail.com and if you’re persuasive enough I may purchase it for the store.

And if you’re interested in hearing more about my story find more information at elizabethbeeli.com. Happy reading! – Beeli

This makes a lot more sense when you realize that a big part of my reputation at this job was being a bookworm. Besides Beeli, my nickname was Belle because I always had my nose in a book when I was on a break or waiting to clock in.

Books hold a timeless value that is unparalleled.

The Book Nook would not have happened if I hadn’t gone outside my comfort zone.

The Book Nook would not have happened if I had been afraid of failure and that my manager would reject the idea.

The Book Nook would not have happened if I waited for opportunity instead of creating it.

You create the opportunities and therefore legacy you want to leave.
