No one is where they are today – because of themselves alone.
Firstly, you were brought into this world by people and events outside of yourself.
There are also a myriad of events that have helped carry you into your current situation.
If you take a moment to look around, you’ll realize that you stand on the shoulders of past mentors and quite likely your family.
Take a moment to realize the effort and sacrifices of those around you to directly aid your own success!
Now expressing thanks to those mentors generally seems like a good idea.
But what about a radically good idea?
What if you expressed gratitude to not just those who have had a monumental impact on your life but also those who positively impact your life in less noticeable ways?
What benefits and changes would you see if you expressed gratitude sincerely and frequently through compliments?
Charles Schwab: “I have yet to find a person, however great or exalted his station, who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than he would ever do under a spirit of criticism.”
I’m willing to wager that openly acknowledging and expressing gratitude through compliments will improve not only your life but also sow seeds of social capital.
