Ed Tech In Ten Years

When I think of the future I envision a blank canvas with outlines of what could be. Shadows quickly morphing into different shapes and possibilities.

If the current Ed Tech scene is indicative of where the future may be I’d hope in ten years it will progress to solve these problems:

Disconnect between courses taught and relevant skills needed in the work place. Often because what their degree is in doesn’t tie into what they end up doing in the work place. More of the application of tools and classroom used in the real world to the classroom.

Lack of focus on value creation. Identifying problems, understanding where there is an unmet need that you enjoy filling is the dream.

Education is too expensive. I would love for students to be able to afford school without having to go into debt.

Students leave school hating learning. This is the greatest tragedy of them all. If there is one thing that is important to take away from your education, it’s a love of learning. Because no matter what level of schooling you get, your time outside of school will almost always be greater than your time in the classroom. So it’s important to keep learning outside the classroom.

This is my hope for the problems Ed Tech will solve in the future. Who know what the future will actually hold.
