Elevate Your Meetings

Meetings.

An eight letter word that might strike cold fear into your heart.

I’m a big proponent of the idea that you should replace meetings with emails if they are for information purposes only and with phone calls if the issue can be resolved in under 10 minutes.

But here’s a new perspective on when you next find yourself in a meeting.

If you feel like you need to work in a meeting challenge why you’re having the meeting or whether your time would be better spent being present.

Simon Sinek talks about leaving your phone out of meetings, not face down but out of the office room.

How much more distracting can laptops be?

What’s unique about a meeting is often that you have a group of people focused on a specific topic.

If anyone is not present it detracts from the entire group.

If you’re in a meeting you think is unproductive how can you expect to improve it if you’re distracted the whole time?
