Core Ideas

Every company should identify their core ideas.

For example, Jeff Bezos identified low prices, fast delivery, and vast selection as Amazon’s core ideas.

Core values should be obvious and hold true 10-20 years from now.

Jeff beautifully illustrated this in the below quote: “I can never imagine a customer saying I love Amazon but the prices are just too low, or, I love Amazon but I just wish they delivered more slowly.”

These statements are so inconceivable that you don’t have to rely on market research to feel confident investing energy into them.

At Lucidchart, we can’t imagine a customer saying “I love Lucidchart but I just understand my company too well” or “It was just too easy to explain a complex topic.”

Create flywheels around your core ideas and be laser-focused on continuing to invest in them.
