After teaching my first online summer speech and debate course, I have a new found respect for teachers.

Four things I learned:

The basics of having the technology working for synchronous courses computer wifi, audio, etc. is the highest priority and can be very challenging to overcome, especially with younger students.

When teaching students in a language that’s not their native tongue, prepare to define words frequently.

Navigating dealing with rowdy students over Zoom is a challenge.

Online white boarding saved my life.

A big thank you to Dr. Bonk who helped equip me with tools to make this semester a success.
