Your life is a circle, composed of your experiences.
Every person you meet has their own experiences.
There’s always an overlap in experiences, even if it constrained to consuming food.
How do you find that overlap and make a beautiful Venn diagram?
Establish a firm foundation. Ask open ended questions (What’s your story? What prompted you to do that?) to give them an opportunity to share ample background.
Find the overlap. Identify similar interests, hobbies, ambitions, or appreciations.
Now explore more of the unknown. Those sections where your circles don’t overlap serve a purpose.
That is insight that you get to benefit learning from without having personal experience.
