In the product world, we talk a lot about ‘jobs to be done.’
This is a helpful framework known as Outcome-Driven Innovation.
Examples of jobs to be done are:
I don’t want a shovel, I want a hole.
I don’t want a light, I want to be able to see.
Those tasks, become jobs to be done, which could be approached in many different ways.
Similarly this same mentality can be applied to relationships.
I want to be heard.
I want to be loved.
How we go about accomplishing those jobs has long standing impacts on our emotional and physical well being.
