Defined as: the belief in or practice of disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others.
The well-being of others also includes the well being of yourself.
For example, I was talking about self-care to a friend the other day and they made the point that self-care is often confused with indulgence. People often talk about self-care when they refer to bubble baths and other leisurely forms of luxury treatment.
But self-care is often doing less glamours tasks. Do you care enough about yourself that you take care of your body and invest in keeping a clean home?
Similarly, I believe that altruism is not simply all about others. But ensuring you’re at your best self to interact with others and serve them.
