Think back to your last argument, did you see people or objections?
When my heart is at war it’s incredibly difficult for me to evaluate the situation clearly, much less identify a solution to the problem. When my heart is at peace, when I see the real person in front of me, these challenges dissolve.
I’m reminded that time and time again, the best negotiators do not lump people together into lifeless categories (lazy dogs, manipulative cats, crass crabs) but instead understand the opposing side’s position, concerns worries, as much as their own.
Effective agents of change listen, learn, teach, help, build relationships, and procure peace.
