Why Hard Things Are Good, But Don’t Necessarily Make You Happy

Happiness is not synonymous with good.

If you give a child candy continuously they will be continuously happy, while their teeth decay.

And decaying teeth is something we can all agree is not good.

We’d also likely agree that working out is good.

However, it often doesn’t make us happy, an emotion externally triggered, while we’re doing the 35th pushup.

On the other hand, joy, an emotion cultivated internally, is something you may feel after doing a hard workout.

Define your long term goals and know that accomplishing your goals will not be easy, but it will be good.

Hard things are good.
